Fitting the AOIFE pomp
In an ideal world we would recommend to get fitted by one of our many vendors but don’t worry just follow our practical guidelines below and you’ll be stepping out in confidence!
Aoife pomp’s or split soled pomp’s are generally favoured by advanced, professional and open dancers. If you are migrating from a full leather outsole pomp please be advised that the Aoife will fit neater and tighter, you want the foot to look slim, pointed and incredibly neat.
Aoife pomps should be worn a size smaller than your street size and remember that all our sizes are in UK sizes. The pomp should have no room at the toe and should be pulled up at the heel (very important) before lacing and shaping around the ankle.
The fitting of the pomp will feel tight initially but the soft and supple leather will stretch slightly. This is why a lot of really excellent dancers go down 2 sizes. They will essentially stretch the pomp to the fit and contour of their feet.
Selecting the correct size
If you don’t know your USA or UK shoe size please use the chart below with the measurement guidelines.
PUMPS / SOFT SHOES SIZES
If you are unsure of the shoe size you require, we recommend that you draw around your foot on a plain piece of paper and measure between its two longest points (heel to big toe) in centimetres.
How to measure your foot using a drawing
Place the foot on a blank piece of paper and draw around it, ensuring the pen/pencil is held vertically. Draw a line along the foot from the heel to the toe edge and measure. Clearly mark the length of the foot in centimetres.
Choose the size corresponding to that measurement from the table below.

USA Size = Size 12 Child

Soft Shoes (the AOIFE pomp)
The Aoife pomp is made at least a size smaller than normal to give it its unique arch and wonderful fit.
For a tighter fit most dancers will go down one to two sizes on our Aoife pomp. This is a personal choice about how tight you want the fit but do bear in mind that the leather will stretch slightly.
The Aoife patent pomp has a more firm feel and will fit a size smaller than your regular shoe size.
